June 2 Along the Yankee Fork

Today's ride would have been a breeze, only I was going the wrong direction. With a steady wind (est. 10-15 mph) in my face all daylong, GT2M wiggled and waggled 52 miles downhill thru scrub canyon all the way to Challis, following the Yankee Fork of the Salmon River. At lunch in Clayton, I met a full-blooded American Indian, Allen Hull (aka Shawn Redfox) and we talked about the fictional story he was writing about local wild horses and his aspiring leather working business. The most exciting event of the afternoon was outracing a pitbull (brindil colored, ironiclly) who awoke from a sound sleep on a porch and lit out after us...
Tonite's lodging is a small camper trailer at the Pioneer RV Park. Quite comfy.
The 7-day weather forecast is for more cloudy cold, with showers. I need to make a major routing decision, as northward would take me over numerous high passes into Yellowstone, while southward may be hot on the Snake River Plain.
I'm leaning southward.
